LSC-North Harris English Department

English courses at Lone Star College-North Harris are divided into three groups—traditional courses that are college-level and that transfer to four-year colleges and universities, developmental courses that help students overcome reading and writing deficiencies to make them ready for the traditional college-level courses, and English for Speakers of Other Languages(ESOL) courses for those learning to speak and write English. This site contains information on College-Level English.

The English Department offers a range of college level English courses, including Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, Surveys of British, American, and World Literature, and Forms of Literature—courses specializing in selected genres such as Women Writers, African-American Literature, Mexican-American Literature, and Literature & Film. You may be able to test out of some of our first-year English classes if you've had prior learning in the subject.
