TurboVote: Register to vote!

After you have filled out the registration form online and submitted it, you will receive the paper form in the mail pre-stamped and you will then mail it off. From there, you will receive your registration card in the mail and text message alerts from TurboVote! If you're already registered, make sure your number for text alerts is up-to-date.

Texas Secretary of State: Verify your registration!

The Texas Secretary of State's office is responsible for all voting in the state. Through their office, a voter can register to vote, get many of your questions about voting answered, and learn about your rights as a voter.

County Clerk's Office: Find your polling place!

The County Clerk's office oversees voting within their respective counties. Through their website, a voter can learn where they go to vote, update their voter registration information, and how to become a poll worker.

Nonpartisan Resources: Become an informed voter!

Through the links below, voters can learn how their legislators are voting on bills, fact check statements and claims made by politicians, and learn how to express opinions on political issues.

  • GovTrack.us: Tracking the U.S. Congress helps everyone learn about and track the activities of the United States Congress including bill and resolution tracking, voting records, and committee assignments.
  • Vote Smart provides free, factual, and unbiased information on candidates and elected officials including their voting records and positions on issues, speeches, and who they are receiving funding from.
  • The League of Women Voters (LWV.org) is an American nonprofit, nonpartisan political organization providing candidate information. Founded in 1920, its ongoing major activities include registering voters, providing voter information, boosting voter turnout and advocating for voting rights.

Get Involved with Civic Engagement at Lone Star College

Civic engagement means promoting the quality of life in a community through both political and nonpolitical processes. It teaches many different executive skills such as: grit, self-control, zest, social intelligence, gratitude, optimism, and curiosity. These skills aid students well into the future as they finish degrees and enter the workforce.

Whether a student is looking to transfer to a four-year university or looking to joining the workforce after attending Lone Star College, being involved in civic activities help prepare them for life after Lone Star College.
