Lone Star College-Kingwood Learning Commons (L.C.) is a pathway to knowledge. The L.C. provides information and resources to enrich lives and strengthen the community through innovative services within and beyond our walls. To achieve this, a Behavior Policy has been established by the L.C. This policy has been created to ensure the safety and rights of our patrons. Customers not in compliance with the L.C.'s Behavior Policy will be asked by staff to leave the Learning Commons, and when appropriate, staff members will contact the police.
Behavior that interferes with other customers' rights to use the library, including excessive noise, the odor of a customer and/or the personal belongings of that customer constituting a nuisance to others, and unapproved vigorous physical activity.(LSCS Board Policy Manual § II.E.2.04 & Texas Education Code § 31.123)
Violations of Federal or Texas law or local municipal ordinances are absolutely prohibited, including, but not limited to: fighting, the use of obscenities, verbal abuse, and other forms of disorderly conduct, theft, property damage or destruction, public indecency, or intentionally failing to pay a library fine or return library property.
All applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations of municipalities shall be adhered to during the use of such premises.
Members of the library staff will notify the police of violations.

The full text of these regulations may be viewed here.
The College is a diverse community that provides equal academic opportunities while balancing the safety and well-being of all students. The College welcomes persons of all ages. Minors aged 15 and under on College premises must be supervised by a parent, legal guardian, or authorized responsible adult unless the Board has approved a variance to this requirement. Unaccompanied Minors aged 15 and under will be reported to College police and an officer will attempt to locate the minor’s parent/guardian to accompany or remove the child. All Minors on College premises are subject to relevant College policies and procedures. (LSCS Board Policy Manual § II.D.2)
Suspected child abuse or neglect will be reported to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
The Learning Commons is not responsible for lost or stolen personal property. The Lone Star College Police Department maintains the Lost & Found for the campus.
If a patron is bothered by another patron's phone conversation, delicately approach the person on the phone and ask them to lower their voice.
UHD Students are welcome to use the Learning Commons space and computers. There is a special computer lab for free printing (since it's part of UHD tuition). Please talk with your instructor and the campus UHD Advisor for up-to-date information.
Public patrons may use the Learning Commons computers and print using the Harris County Public Library or Montgomery County Public Library card number. Other guests without a public library card must have a temporary account created to use the computers. Guests must present a driver's license.
Note: There is no guest printing with a temporary account.
