Any Course, Any Campus:
LSC students can use tutoring services at any campus, regardless of the campus at which their classes are housed. Click here for a listing of the other campus' webpages. For fully online classes, limited online tutoring is available. Click here for more information about online tutoring.
We're working hard to make sure the support students need is in place for the semeser start! We'll have computer labs, D2L support, and tutoring at three locations: The Atascocita Center (Atascocita, TX), The East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) Complex (New Caney, TX), and in the SCC building on the Kingwood campus. Offerings at each location will vary somewhat, so be sure to review the schedules for details on hours and availability. All schedules are subject to change based on students' needs and utilization.
Our hearts and our thoughts are with our students and community members in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. We understand how stressful and overwhelming things may be right now, and we want to help. Please know that we are working diligently to relocate and re-establish our academic support services so we can help students overcome the challenges presented by the closure of our campus and the transition of most face-to-face classes to online formats. Our priorities right now are to:
Identify and/or create computer labs at alternative sites so students will have access to technology and resources (computers, internet, etc.) for online courses;
Provide personal support and training to students on how to navigate the online course environment (D2L), how to be successful in online courses, and how to access and use any additional software or resources needed for online courses. We understand fully online courses may be new to many, and we are dedicated to making the transition as stress-free as possible; and
Identify alternative sites and delivery methods for academic tutoring so we can continue providing reliable, consistent help to our students for their courses.
All updates regarding locations and schedules for computer labs, D2L assistance, and tutoring will be posted on this page and on the tutoring pages. LSC-Kingwood will continue communicating general updates via students' LoneStar email, on the LSC-Kingwood website, and through social media where appropriate. Please keep checking these regularly. Students should be able to check the updated status of their classes starting around September 18; classes will officially begin September 25.
Because most faculty and staff (including the Learning Support Labs staff) have been displaced due to the flood damage, we are not available at our listed phone numbers. Please send all communication via email.
For questions about the Learning Support Labs and other academic support for students, please email Charlotte.I.Iserhardt@Lonestar.edu.
