Whether you're a new, transfer, or transient student, the admissions process is the same for everyone. Students will need to complete the admissions application either online or by visiting a Student Services office at your closest campus location. Lone Star College accepts admissions applications year round and there are no fees associated with applying for admission to our colleges.

If you have earned credits from another college or university, you will need to follow certain steps before being able to register for classes at Lone Star College:

STEP 1: Request an Official Transcript

Request an official transcript from all colleges or universities that you have previously attended. Students may either bring the official transcript to the Admissions office of their closest campus or have their college/university mail it directly to LSCS. Once received, transcript evaluators will process and evaluate your credits.

STEP 2:  Apply for Admission

While you're waiting for your transcript to arrive, complete the Lone Star College admissions application. If you have a student copy of your transcript or grade reports, please bring them with you when you visit the advising staff. This will assist the academic advisors in determining if you have met the pre-requisites for the courses you are trying to register for.

STEP 3:  Placement Testing

Unless you meet certain exemptions, you will need to submit placement test scores such as ACT, SAT, TAKS, THEA, ASSET, ACCUPLACER, or COMPASS scores. If you do not have placement tests, you may be required to complete assessment testing.

STEP 4:  Meet with an Advisor

When transferring courses between colleges and universities, it is important for students to know which classes will transfer into their particular degree program. Academic advisors have resources, transfer tools & tips available to assist you in determining which courses will transfer to your college or university.

STEP 5:  Register for Class

Once you have been advised and cleared to register, start searching for courses using myLonestar. This online option will only show you open classes that you may register for. You may register for classes online, via phone, or in person with a Student Services staff member.
