Cecilia Rivera
Career and Transfer Center Advisor
Cecilia joined the team in the spring of 2025 and brings with her a strong dedication to student advocacy and success. She is a hard-working, committed professional whose non-traditional path has given her a unique perspective on higher education and student support.
After graduating high school, Cecilia first attended the Chapman School of Seamanship before beginning her college journey at the age of 21. While pursuing her degree, she worked in the advising office at Coastal Carolina University, where she discovered her passion for helping students navigate their academic journeys. In 2022, she graduated magna cum laude from Coastal Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in environmental, philosophical, and artistic studies. Throughout her studies, she was awarded more than $80,000 in scholarships and grants.
Cecilia’s diverse background also includes over a decade of retail experience, highlighted by her time with Kay Jewelers, where she earned her GIA diamond certification. From an early age, she also developed leadership and service skills as a member of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, serving from age 10 to 21. During that time, she engaged in extensive community service, including the honor of serving as an escort for Medal of Honor recipient Major General James E. Livingston.
Because her journey has been non-traditional, Cecilia deeply values kindness, individuality, and personalized guidance. She approaches every student interaction with the goal of understanding and supporting their unique definition of success, ensuring that each student feels seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.
