The Office of Strategic Initiatives houses the Center for Organizational and Teaching Excellence (COTE), College Relations, Multimedia Services, the Center for Leadership, Academics, and Student Success (Title V Grant), Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, Research, Grants, and Diversity Initiatives.
The mission of OSI is to generate, evaluate and implement strategic initiatives that create sustainable long-term improvements for LSC-Tomball.
Meet the Chief Strategist
Dr. Jackie C. Thomas Jr. currently serves as the Chief Strategist at Lone Star College-Tomball. In this capacity, he is responsible for providing senior-level leadership to College Relations, the Center for Organizational and Teaching Excellence, the Center for Leadership, Academics, and Student Success, Multimedia Services, Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning, Grants, and Diversity Initiatives. Prior to serving as Chief Strategist, he spent a year and a half as Assistant Dean and three years as a full-time faculty member at LSC-Tomball.
Dr. Thomas has 13 years of experience working in higher education. He has worked in Residential Life and Housing, Student Activities, New Student Programs, and Student Judicial Affairs. In his spare time, Jackie teaches in the Masters in Higher Education Program at the University of Houston. He also serves as a Lead Facilitator for the LeaderShape Institute. As a Lead Facilitator, he travels across the country to different college and university campuses to speak to college students about living and leading with integrity. He received his Bachelors of Science in Consumer Science and Merchandising from the University of Houston, his Masters of Science in Higher Education from Florida State University, and his Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Psychology and Individual Differences from the University of Houston.
