September 30 - Tales of Triumph (and Disaster) from Three Brothers Bakery

About the Speaker:Janice Jucker, co-owner of Three Brothers Bakery and passionate advocate of breast cancer awareness, has been dedicated to helping the business grow and thrive, including opening a third location recently. A graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, Janice uses a strategic five-year plan, as well as her business knowledge, to help guide the business. This leadership has resulted in numerous accolades, including a spot on the "Inc. 5000" list of fastest-growing companies, the naming of the bakery's pecan pie as the "Best Mail-Order Pie America Has to Offer" by Country Living Magazine, and the nation-wide recognition in 2014 of its Pumpecapple Piecake, deemed the hottest holiday dessert in America by CNN Weekend Bites. The bakery has created over 100,000 special cakes for life cycle events, which is why Janice and the Three Brothers Bakery team like to say they are "Memory Makers Who Happen to be Bakers."

About the Speakers:Jane Stimpson has been a community college librarian in Houston for nearly six years. She was born and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, but loves living in Texas. Her professional interests include instruction and outreach, and in her spare time she enjoys reading, yoga and Pilates, and baking.
Claire Gunnels is founding faculty and assistant director of the Lone Star Colleg –CyFair Branch Library, a joint library with Harris County Public Library in Houston, Texas. She is the author of LIFE in the Library: Events to Build Community and co-author of Joint Libraries: Models that Work and writes occasionally for Community and Junior College Libraries. Ms. Gunnels’s has past experience as a market researcher and business owner and is a librarian who loves to help with research.

After years of working with many local businesses he grew to become a branding specialist and lead generation strategist.

Sonia Maldonado from the Small Business Administration gives an inside look at lending practices and ways to maximize results.
About the Speaker:Sonia Maldonado has been working with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for numerous years, and in various divisions; District Counsel, Finance, Servicing, Business Development and now in Lender Relations. She has also worked for other federal government agencies; U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), and U.S. Postal Service (USPS). She is currently in SBA Houston District Office - Lender Relations, marketing and outreach to small, medium, and large businesses. Ms. Maldonado holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Information Systems Technology from the University of Houston, and a Paralegal Certificate from University of New York’s Lehman College. She loves helping people by providing them information on SBA’s Programs and Services. She encourages all to take advantage of SBA’s useful information, and financing opportunities for businesses.

In her current role Christina works with visionary business leaders who want their organizations to lead and sell more effectively. She uses real-world sales and coaching strategies that impact the bottom line of both large and small organizations. Christina also works with non-selling professionals including attorneys, accountants & CPAs, architects and engineers who are challenged with building a client base. She helps these professionals develop a consistent system to generate new accounts and perpetuate their personal growth and the growth of their company.
