The welding technology continuing education certificate program prepares the student for entry-level employment as a structural welder. Some courses completed in the certificate programs may be applied toward the welding technology AAS degree through Linked Courses, however Semester Credit Hours can only be earned by enrolling through Credit Registration and not CE, and students must meet LSC Credit Registration qualifications – high school diploma, GED, or early admissions program entry. Many companies provide excellent benefits including medical insurance and paid vacation.
Welding training is extensive and consists of learning how to run the torch, the plasma cutting machine, stick welding, TIG and beveling machines, as well as safety requirements. There will always be the need for well-trained individuals in the various trade industries. Welding offers a variety of job options in this region, particularly in the oil & gas, and construction fields.
