The national psychology honor society for community colleges has given the LSC-University Park chapter one of only 14 national Chapter Excellence Awards for the 2015-2016 academic year. LSC-University Park’s young chapter held its first induction in March of 2015 and has since become one of the college’s most active academic organizations.

Hirsch teaches Honors Humanities I Prehistory to Gothic and has taught several other humanities and English courses during her teaching career at Lone Star College. She has worked for the college since 2007 in both student services and instructional roles.

Lured to a conference room under false pretenses, Lone Star College-University Park student Jessica Kent found herself surrounded by 30 well-wishers in on a secret: her next two years of college are paid for.
Kent won one of 90 Undergraduate Transfer Scholarships from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. The award can be worth up to $40,000 a year for tuition, living expenses, books and fees.
Kent plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin and major in International Relations and Global Studies.
